Psychiatric Care in Rhode Island Without the Drive
Access to mental health care is a real challenge in Rhode Island. As of December 31, 2025, the state had 15 federally designated mental health care shortage areas, and only about 49% of the need for mental health practitioners in those areas was being met, according to KFF.
Online care expands access to psychiatric care without requiring travel to an office. Whether you're in Providence, Warwick, Cranston, Pawtucket, Newport, or a smaller town, you can have your evaluation and follow-up visits from home.

How Online Visits Work in Rhode Island
Every new patient starts with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. We review your symptoms, history, current and past medications, and what you want to get out of treatment. Then we talk through what may be going on, your options, and a treatment plan built around you.
After that, follow-up visits are used to see how treatment is working, adjust the plan when needed, and answer your questions along the way.
Comprehensive evaluation
Talk through your symptoms, health and treatment history, current concerns, and goals with your provider.
A plan built around you
Discuss what may be contributing to your symptoms and review clinically appropriate treatment options together.
Ongoing follow-up
Review how treatment is working, discuss questions or side effects, and adjust the plan when needed.
Prepare for your first visit
- Be in Rhode Island during each appointment. Telehealth care is tied to where you are physically located at the time of the visit, not where you live.
- Have a device with a camera. Visits are by secure video, using a phone, tablet, or computer and a private place to talk. Care is primarily provided via telehealth. When required to meet applicable controlled-substance prescribing requirements, an in-person appointment may be arranged.
- Allow time for insurance verification. Verification can take up to 4 business days, so it helps to book a little ahead.
Want to talk before scheduling an evaluation?
We offer a 15-minute pre-booking consultation for $50. It's a chance to ask questions and see whether our practice is the right fit. It isn't a psychiatric evaluation, and no diagnoses, medication recommendations, or prescriptions are given during it. The fee is nonrefundable and isn't credited toward future appointments.

Understanding adult ADHD
ADHD Evaluation and Treatment in Rhode Island
Many adults are evaluated for ADHD for the first time years after their symptoms began. Some were told as children that they just needed to try harder. Others managed well until work, school, or family responsibilities became too much to keep up with.
An adult ADHD evaluation looks at your current symptoms, how long you've had them, and how they affect different parts of your life. It also considers other conditions, like anxiety or depression, that can look similar or exist alongside ADHD.
ADHD can look different in women
Symptoms are often less outwardly hyperactive and more internal: trouble focusing, mental exhaustion, forgetfulness, or feeling constantly behind despite working hard. Many women aren't diagnosed until adulthood, sometimes after years of being treated only for anxiety or depression. Understanding how ADHD presents in women is a particular focus of our practice.

ADHD Medications and Telehealth
Medication can be an important part of ADHD treatment, but it's never the starting point. Any medication decision follows a full psychiatric evaluation and is based on what's clinically appropriate for you.
Prescribing, including for stimulants and other controlled medications, follows applicable federal and Rhode Island requirements. That includes checking Rhode Island's Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP), which tracks controlled medication prescriptions across the state. Care is primarily provided via telehealth. When required to meet applicable controlled-substance prescribing requirements, an in-person appointment may be arranged.
No specific medication is guaranteed through telehealth. What we can promise is a careful evaluation, a clear explanation of your options, and a say in the decisions about your treatment.
Treatment decisions are collaborative and based on a full evaluation.
